Your impact

As an AI Tutor, STEM Specialist, you will play a key role in improving AI capabilities by reviewing expert annotated data using proprietary software. Your expertise in STEM will directly impact the training of AI models, ensuring accuracy and innovation. This role requires analytical thinking, adaptability, and a passion for technological advancement.

This is a contract remote position with variable time commitments. The services to be provided by the Contractor under this agreement are supplementary and not integral to the Handshake’s primary business operations. The Contractor’s services are distinct and separate from the core business activities of Handshake.

Your role

• Utilize proprietary software to provide accurate feedback to expert AI trainers.

• Ensure high-quality data curation and contribute to the development of AI models.

• Collaborate with technical teams to refine annotation tools and methodologies.

• Apply expertise in STEM to evaluate AI-generated and human responses.

• Interpret, analyze, and review tasks based on evolving instructions.

Your experience

• PhD in Physics, Biology, Chemistry or Math (either in progress or completed within the last 10 years).

• Proficiency in both informal and professional English writing.

• Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to navigate various information sources.

• Excellent communication and organizational abilities.

• Ability to make autonomous decisions based on limited data.

• Passion for AI, innovation, and technology.

Bonus areas of expertise

• Research experience with published work in a reputable journal.

• Previous AI tutoring experience.

• Teaching experience (professor, teacher, or tutor).

• Experience in technical writing, journalism, or professional writing.

Additional Requirements

• Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

• Ability to quickly adapt to new skills and evolving requirements.

• Personal device must support Windows 10 or macOS Big Sur 11.0 or later.

• Reliable access to a smartphone.

Location & Work Expectations

• Fully remote position.

• No visa sponsorship available.

• Not hiring in Wyoming or Illinois at this time.

Compensation range

• $40/hr - $70/hr

For cash compensation, we set standard ranges for all U.S.-based roles based on function, level, and geographic location, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. In order to be compliant with local legislation, as well as to provide greater transparency to candidates, we share salary ranges on all job postings regardless of desired hiring location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including geographic location as well as candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
