Making Sketchy warmer and more inviting for everyone is at the core of our company's culture Sketchy is looking for a Mid-Level Software Developer, Backend to join the Engineering team! This role will be instrumental in advancing our product roadmap and partnering with Product Managers and Designers to build and maintain our platform. Sketchy is hiring remote employees in these select US states: California, Colorado, Texas, Utah and Washington. Responsibilities • Collaborate with fellow Sketchy engineers, product designers, and product managers to design, review, and build well-crafted software. • Contribute to an agile workflow to deliver features and improvements that address the needs of students and schools. • Support the team by following established best practices and contributing to documentation, ensuring code quality and maintainability. • Participate in an on-call rotation, assisting with troubleshooting and supporting production systems as needed. • Work with the team to break down product requirements and analyze specifications, helping to outline tasks and timelines to ensure successful implementation. What We’re Looking For • 3+ years of experience building consumer applications using modern frameworks and technologies. • Experience with JavaScript, Node.js, Typescript, NestJS (or other modern frameworks) • Experience with Docker and containerization techniques. • Strong written and verbal communication skills, both technical and non-technical. • Good problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude toward learning and growth in a startup environment. • (Nice To Have) Familiarity with monitoring and performance tools (e.g., DataDog, New Relic, or AWS monitoring). • (Nice To Have) Knowledge of AWS (EC2/Fargate/Lambda/Queues), Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform), Redis, Relational Databases, and SQL.
