Junior Software Engineer - Colorado Springs

The Software Engineer (Entry Level) will provide software support and modernization for the Data Transport Product Support Sustainment Logistics Maintenance (DSLM) program within the US Space Force. You will perform software sustainment engineering on the various mission and non-mission systems using Agile Software Development. As part of the Agile process, actively participate in daily Scrum providing awareness of all assigned software engineering tasks as part of your role in providing development and maintenance activities for Satellite Control Network (SCN) software products. You will create software work products and related artifacts to implement the Backlog Items that describe functional and non-functional needs for a product. You will use the Agile approach to continuously make software process improvements and efficiencies. In this exciting role you will provide command and control software support for the DoD SCN. Software engineers work as a team with senior engineers to maintain, sustain, modify and test the enabling software for the SCN. In this role, you will: • Perform software studies to find replacements for existing mission software • Perform trade studies and proof of concept development and testing • Develop new software release processes • Review, analyze, and modify programming systems including encoding, testing, debugging and installing to support application systems • Consult with users to identify current operating procedures and to clarify program objectives • Coordinate closely with team members, Product Owners and Scrum Masters to ensure User Story alignment and implementation to customer use cases. • Analyze (through demonstrations, proof of concept, performance, and end-to-end testing) and effectively coordinate Infrastructure needs driven by developed software to meet customer mission needs. • Determine operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions. • Document and demonstrate solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code. • Prepare and install solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming. • Improve operations by conducting systems analysis, recommending changes in policies and procedures. • Develop software solutions by studying information needs; conferring with users; studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes; investigating problem areas. • Supporting testing, writing and executing automated test scripts and unit tests.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have: • The ability to obtain an active Secret clearance • US Citizenship • High school diploma/GED and 4 years of related experience • Or A Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts and 2 years of related experience • Experience in software development using Java, C and or C++ • Testing/Scripting experience • The ability to travel on occasion up to 25% of the time Apply today to discover your place in our world!
