About the position The Merch Planner for Produce at Target is responsible for managing financials and forecasting for the produce category, ensuring that the right products are available at the right time and price. This role involves conducting comparative analysis, supporting inventory decisions, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize product assortments and drive sales. The position offers a unique opportunity to influence key decisions in a fast-growing category, focusing on both HQ ordered and store-ordered products. Responsibilities • Conduct comparative analysis of seasonal performance reports to inform inventory decisions. , • Act as a liaison between Merchandising and Supply Chain to create a financial link between the two groups. , • Provide in-season decision support and collaborative assortment planning. , • Recommend localization and channel strategies for product offerings. , • Lead demand forecasting and manage the open-to-buy process for category-level investments. , • Conduct root cause analysis for variations between supply and demand forecasts. , • Perform scenario planning and build unit plans to optimize assortments. , • Interpret forecast results and conduct 'what if?' analysis for recommendations. , • Validate unit promo planning forecasts and drive decision-making by the Pricing & Promotion Center of Excellence. , • Run event forecast creation and analyze item lifecycles for end-of-season management. Requirements • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. , • 2-6 years of relevant experience in merchandising or planning. , • 1+ years of merchandising experience. , • Strong strategic, financial, and analytical skills. , • Ability to translate data into insights and recommendations. , • Strong collaboration skills to partner with cross-functional teams. , • Flexible and resilient in a constantly changing environment.
