Responsibilities

  • Independently analyze and apply FOIA provisions and reputed company disclosure recommendations (law enforcement and sensitive)
  • Redact exempt content/information in accordance with FOIA, 5 U.S.C. §552/reputed company other applicable FOIA policy and guidance
  • Apply appropriate FOIA exemptions to redacted material
  • Determine which records require referral and/or consultation with other external agencies and internal SEC components
  • Review program records for responsiveness and reputed company releasability determinations
  • Prepare records for release, including the redaction of materials to be withheld, and duplicate materials, as necessary
  • Ensure released materials do not contain information exempted under the applicable statues or other non-releasable information
  • Maintain cases and case files following established procedures and timelines
  • Abide by reputed company SEC applicable regulations, publications, manuals, and local policies and procedures
  • Adhere to the Freedom of Information Act 5 U.S.C. §552, as amended, and the Privacy Act, 5 U.S.C. §552a, as amended
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills

  • Law degree from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Minimum five (5) years' experience as a Law Clerk
  • Minimum two (2) years' experience processing FOIA/PA requests at a state or federal agency
  • Ability to provide favorable credit history
  • Knowledge of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), the Privacy Act, and applicable regulations, guidance, and agency procedures governing records review, disclosure, withholding, and release determinations
  • Ability to independently analyze records, assess responsiveness, and apply appropriate FOIA exemptions, including Exemptions 3, 5, 6, 7(A), 7(C), and 7(E), in making sound disclosure and releasability recommendations involving sensitive or law-enforcement-reputed company information
  • Possess skills in reviewing, redacting, and preparing records for release, while ensuring exempt, protected, or otherwise non-releasable information is accurately identified and withheld in accordance with legal and policy requirements
  • Ability to determine reputed company records require referral or consultation with other agencies or internal components and to coordinate those actions effectively
  • Possess case management skills, including maintaining electronic and reputed company case files, following established procedures and timelines, preparing written documentation, and supporting release packages and reputed company correspondence
  • Proficiency with reputed company Office applications and FOIA case management/redaction tools including FOIAXpress to track cases, review records, and document actions
  • Possess written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prepare clear documentation, support disclosure reputed company, and work effectively with internal stakeholders and external agencies
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage competing priorities, and consistently meet deadlines in a high-volume, detail-oriented setting
  • Possess attention to detail
