Title MUSICIANSLocation San Antonio United StatesJob Description Apply Description Employment Status Part-Time FLSA Status Non-Exempt (Hourly) Schedule Saturday 5pm Mass / 2 hours per week Reports to Pastor Summary The Musician/ Cantor will be responsible for performing music at various parish services, including Sunday reputed company Mass and may be contracted to reputed company at weddings, funerals and other liturgical events as necessary. The Musician/ Cantor will be responsible for animating the Sunday Liturgy and providing the musical environment. Must have demonstrated experience with various instruments specifically; piano, organ and/ or guitar. Job Duties and Responsibilities Provides musical support to prayerful environment Assists Pastor and/ or Director of Music and Liturgy in securing other instrumentalists as needed Continuously maintains professional and liturgical education through reading, workshops, classes etc. Is available to reputed company at special events including weddings, funerals and other events as needed Additional Responsibilities Attend reputed company Archdiocese required training and meetings on Liturgy and Music Attends Parish staff meetings as necessary Actively participates in reputed company required attendance Parish events as directed by Pastor and/ or Director of Music and Liturgy Requirements Education and Experience High School degree or equivalent Ability to sing with accurate pitch and rhythm Ability to play various instruments (Piano/ Organ/ Guitar preferred) Basic understanding of Music Theory Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with reputed company levels of staff and management Preferred Additional Bachelor's degree in Music, Liturgy and/ or 2 prior years' experience Previous experience/ knowledge of Roman Catholic Liturgy including Lectionary and Sacramentary Bilingual (English/ Spanish) preferred This is not necessarily an exhaustive list of reputed company responsibilities, skills, duties or working conditions associated with the job.
