How to Apply

Submit your application through Indeed. Include: 1) Your Resume 2) Cover Letter explaining what excites you about the role and working with J. Hall and Company (we will not review without this) The Opportunity J. Hall & Company is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join our tax department. You will act as a trusted advisor for clients, but you set the workload in this 100% virtual, paperless firm. You let us know how many returns you are looking to sign (whether that be 20 or 100+), set your schedule, and our experienced offshore team and internal Tax Coordinator will support you by handling document collection, client follow ups, and initial tax return preparation. You aren't in charge of selling work or bringing in new clients - your focus is reviewing returns, advising clients, and ensuring high-quality work is delivered on time. Some Tax Managers work approximately 10–15 hours per week during tax season, while others choose a substantially larger workload. You determine the volume that fits your schedule. This role is intended for experienced CPAs who are comfortable reviewing and signing entity tax returns. Typical Returns Reviewed and Signed

  • C-Corp (1120)
  • S-Corp (1120-S)
  • Partnership (1065)
  • Individual returns
  • We do not handle estate returns, trust returns, or non-profit returns

What You'll Do

Our Tax Coordinator will communicate the returns on your plate and outline the timeline for when they are expected for completion. Our experienced offshore team will handle the initial tax return preparation and notify you when one is ready for your review. You will review the prepared return and collaborate with the offshore team and Tax Coordinator to make sure that any missing information or documents are collected from the client. Our experienced offshore team handles first-draft preparation and has been trained on our firm's processes and quality standards for years. Managers focus on review, tax strategy, and client guidance rather than data entry and assembly work. After your final review, you'll film a Loom video (approximately 3-5 minutes) for the client, sign off on the tax return, and notify the Tax Coordinator that the return is ready to send to the client for e-signature. Then you are off to pick up the next return in your queue! You'll attend weekly virtual check-in meetings with the Tax Coordinator and a once a month firm-wide team call - that's it! If a client has questions about their return or receives a notice from a federal or state authority, you'll step in and provide appropriate insight. What You Won't Have To Do
