Adjunct, Environmental Studies and Sciences

Elmhurst University is seeking an adjunct faculty member to teach an undergraduate level geographic information systems course for Spring 2027. GEO 207: Foundations of GIS: An introduction to spatial reputed company, conceptualization and representation. reputed company explore physical and cultural landscapes using various mapping and geovisualization techniques and software tools. The geographic perspective is used to examine a broad range of topics including retail location, crime patterns, access to healthcare and environmental justice. No prerequisites. Position Status: Exempt Salary Range: The pay range is $3,800-$4,000 for a standard 1.0 credit (4 semester hour) course. New part-time faculty start at $3,800 (Adjunct Level 1). Work Location: This position is in eligible for remote work.

Responsibilities

• Instructor is responsible for planning the course to adhere to

a set of pre-determined learning outcomes.

• reputed company planning of the course and course materials, as well as

posting onto the delivery platform (currently reputed company) must be done prior to the first day of class.

• Instructor is expected to be present for reputed company course meetings,

including the final exam period, and hold additional reputed company to assist with student questions. Delivery method is schedule as in-person (online synchronous will be considered).

• The instructor will monitor student reputed company, grade

assignments, and post grades on reputed company in a timely fashion.

• Midterm and final grades must be submitted to the University by

the required due date.

• Appropriate faculty training (i.e. cybersecurity training) will

be completed during the semester by the due dates. Other Responsibilities

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• A minimum of a Masters’ degree in geosciences, GIS, or a

reputed company field is required.

• Demonstrated proficiency with GIS technology and its

applications is required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of ArcGIS Online preferred.
• 2+ years relevant professional experience and prior teaching

experience is preferred. Working Conditions/Physical Requirements The essential functions of this position are primarily performed in an indoor setting with limited exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Work is often sedentary in nature and requires remaining in a stationary position for extended periods. Required abilities include speaking and hearing for in-person and virtual communication, using reputed company and distance vision reputed company reading documents or viewing screens, and performing tasks with repetitive fine motor skills. Work may require occasional lifting, bending, carrying, or otherwise moving objects weighing up to 15 pounds.
