  • Target Commission: $100,000+ annually

A well-established financial publishing and research organization is seeking a Senior Manager, Library Sales to lead business development and account growth within academic, public, corporate, government, and special libraries throughout North America. This is a high-impact, revenue-generating role focused on expanding institutional subscriptions, enterprise licensing agreements, and strategic partnerships. The successful candidate will possess a strong background in library sales, information services, research subscriptions, digital content, financial intelligence products, or related institutional sales environments. Position Overview The Senior Manager, Library Sales will be responsible for driving new business acquisition, expanding existing client relationships, and developing strategic sales initiatives within the library market. This individual will serve as a trusted advisor to librarians, collection development professionals, and institutional decision-makers while managing a substantial sales territory and contributing directly to company growth. This role offers exceptional earning potential for an experienced sales professional with a proven ability to close large subscription and licensing opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Revenue Generation

  • Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to exceed annual revenue goals.
  • Identify, prospect, and secure new library subscription and licensing opportunities.
  • Conduct virtual and in-person product demonstrations, presentations, and negotiations.
  • Manage the complete sales cycle from prospecting through contract execution.
  • Build a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities and maintain accurate forecasting.
  • Consistently achieve and exceed sales quotas and performance objectives.

Account Management

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of library and institutional accounts.
  • Develop strong relationships with library directors, collection development librarians, procurement professionals, and key stakeholders.
  • Lead contract renewals, upselling initiatives, and multi-year agreement negotiations.
  • Ensure high customer satisfaction and long-term retention.

Market Leadership

  • Monitor industry trends affecting libraries, publishing, digital resources, and financial information services.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, webinars, and association events.
  • Develop relationships with library consortia and purchasing groups.
  • Provide market intelligence and competitive insights to executive leadership.

Strategic Leadership

  • Collaborate with senior leadership on sales strategy, territory planning, and market expansion initiatives.
  • Mentor junior sales professionals and share best practices.
  • Partner with marketing, customer success, and product teams to maximize revenue opportunities.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of successful sales experience selling to libraries, educational institutions, government agencies, corporate information centers, or similar markets.
  • Demonstrated success selling subscription-based products, research services, databases, digital content, SaaS solutions, or information services.
  • Consistent history of achieving or exceeding sales goals.
  • Excellent consultative selling, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Experience managing complex sales cycles and enterprise-level accounts.
  • Strong CRM proficiency (Salesforce, HubSpot, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar).

Preferred

  • Experience selling financial research, investment publications, business intelligence, market data, or professional information products.
  • Existing relationships within the academic, public, corporate, or government library communities.
  • Knowledge of library procurement processes and consortium purchasing structures.
  • Experience negotiating enterprise licensing agreements and multi-site subscriptions.
