Job title: Open Educational Resources Librarian / Project Coordinator (fully remote optional) Company: Loyola Marymount University Job description: The OER Librarian/Project Coordinator provides essential support for the planning, implementation, and assessment of a three-year, federally funded grant project to create and increase the use of OER across four private California colleges and universities. Reporting to the OER for Social Justice Project Director, the OER Librarian/PC will work with a dynamic team of librarians and instructional designers across four universities to develop and document training materials for faculty, plan and coordinate outreach and communication efforts, support faculty in research, evaluation, and creation of OER, and assist with assessment for the grant. This position is fully funded through December 31, 2025 through the U.S. Department of Education Open Textbook Pilot grant. Position Specific Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Design, develop, and/or teach workshops for faculty to learn how to discover, evaluate, edit, and create OER
  • Develop asynchronous training materials and resource guides
  • Provide research support for faculty grant recipients to aid in discovery and development of OER
  • Support the Project Director in all aspects of grant coordination, including project management, communication with the project team and advisory board, and maintaining project documentation
  • With advisory support from LMU’s office of Grant Evaluation and Statistical Support, create evaluation & feedback tools for program participants and compile reports
  • Serve as a central point of contact and referral for faculty grant recipients located across four different universities in California (three in the Bay Area, and one in Los Angeles)

Required Qualifications:
  • Typically a Master’s Degree in Library/Information Sciences from an ALA-accredited program, or in a related field
  • Interest, coursework, or experience related to open educational resources
  • Familiarity with facilitating, supporting, and/or evaluating open education and/or textbook affordability initiatives in higher education
  • Familiarity with copyright, open licensing, and fair use
  • Exemplary oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, library, and other university staff, and develop and maintain effective team-based working relationships
  • Highly developed organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently
  • Demonstrated training and presentation skills in a virtual environment
  • Project management skills Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two years of experience working with open educational resource initiatives in an academic library or another academic unit in higher education
  • Experience with various content management systems, including but not limited to Pressbooks, OpenStax, LibGuides, Brightspace (or other LMS)
  • Awareness of accessibility guidelines for websites and digital content
  • Familiarity with equity-minded instructional design strategies, including open pedagogy, Transparency in Learning and Teaching (TILT), Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) About the William H.
