Role Overview – Your Mission as a Remote Senior Professional Liability Claims Specialist We are searching for a seasoned Claims Specialist with deep expertise in professional liability to lead the end‑to‑end management of complex, high‑value claims. In this remote position, you will serve as the pivotal liaison between insured clients, legal counsel, medical experts, and internal stakeholders. Leveraging your analytical acumen, negotiation prowess, and litigation support skills, you will ensure claims are resolved efficiently, fairly, and in alignment with Workwarp’s commitment to integrity and client satisfaction. Key Responsibilities – What You’ll Own Every Day

  • Complex Claim Analysis: Conduct thorough investigations of technically challenging professional liability claims, including medical malpractice, errors and omissions, D&O, life‑sciences, and cyber‑liability matters.
  • Investigation Management: Lead or delegate comprehensive fact‑finding activities, coordinate expert interviews, gather documentation, and compile detailed investigative reports that form the foundation for claim decisions.
  • Negotiation & Settlement: Negotiate settlement offers with counsel, insurers, and claimants within designated authority limits, aiming for equitable resolutions while protecting the company’s financial interests.
  • Reserve Setting & Monitoring: Calculate appropriate reserves for each claim, periodically review and adjust them based on emerging information, and ensure compliance with regulatory and internal reserving standards.
  • Litigation Support: Represent Workwarp in depositions, mediations, and trial monitoring; work closely with external counsel to develop case strategies, prepare exhibits, and manage discovery requests.
  • Client Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for insured clients, delivering clear, timely updates on claim status, anticipated timelines, and next steps.
  • Documentation & Coding Accuracy: Maintain meticulously organized claim files, ensure proper coding of claim types and exposures, and uphold data integrity across Workwarp’s claims management system.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of evolving professional liability statutes, regulations, and industry best practices; ensure all claim handling procedures comply with applicable legal standards.
  • Team Collaboration: Partner with underwriting, risk engineering, and product development teams to provide insights that influence policy wording, coverage limits, and risk mitigation recommendations.
  • Travel Flexibility: Occasionally travel to client sites, industry conferences, or internal training events, as required to enhance relationship building and professional development.

Essential Qualifications – The Core Foundations You Bring

  • Education: Master’s degree (e.g., MBA, MA) or Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited institution is strongly preferred; a bachelor’s degree in a related field is acceptable when combined with extensive experience.
  • Experience: Minimum ten (10) years of progressive claims management experience handling complex professional liability exposures, or an equivalent blend of education and demonstrable expertise.
  • Subject‑Matter Expertise: Proven deep‑knowledge of professional liability insurance principles, including medical malpractice, errors and omissions, D&O, life‑sciences, and cyber liability.
  • Licensing & Certifications: Appropriate state licensing where required; professional designations (e.g., CPCU, ARM, CLU) and industry certifications are highly valued.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional oral and written communication abilities, with experience presenting complex claim analyses to senior leadership and external counsel.
