[Remote] Manager II, Engineering - Connections

They are seeking an Engineering Manager for the Connections team to lead engineers in developing user-facing product areas, shape strategy, and foster a high-performing team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow a cross-functional engineering team working across user-facing product areas and the systems that support them
  • Set clear goals and drive execution against a roadmap aligned with broader product and business priorities
  • Partner with Product, Design, Research, and Data Science to shape strategy, prioritize opportunities, and deliver measurable outcomes
  • Create a strong team environment with clear expectations, healthy operating rhythms, high standards, and psychological safety
  • Coach and develop engineers across levels, helping them grow in scope, impact, and career progression
  • Support technical and architectural decision-making to ensure the team builds reliable, scalable, and maintainable systems
  • Use data, experimentation, and user insight to guide product and engineering decisions
  • Use AI to accelerate analysis, research, drafting, synthesis, and iteration, while applying strong judgment and verification to ensure quality and correctness

Skills

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years managing teams of 5+ engineers
  • Experience leading engineering teams that build and ship consumer-facing products
  • Experience managing engineers across multiple levels and helping teams improve in effectiveness, quality, and impact
  • Strong people leadership skills, including coaching, feedback, performance management, and team development
  • Strong product sense and strategic thinking, with the ability to translate broad goals into clear priorities and execution plans
  • Solid technical foundation and the ability to engage in architecture, design reviews, and technical trade-offs
  • Proven ability to lead through ambiguity, align cross-functional stakeholders, and deliver meaningful results
  • Expertise in using data and experimentation to inform product and engineering decisions
  • Demonstrated ability to use AI to improve speed and quality in day-to-day work for relevant outputs
  • Strong track record of critically evaluating and verifying AI-assisted work through testing, review, or other quality controls
  • High integrity and ownership in using AI: you protect sensitive information, avoid over-reliance on AI, and remain accountable for final decisions and deliverables
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working closely with Product, Design, Research, Data Science, and other engineering teams
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
