Position Overview – Part‑Time Data Entry Claims Intake Processor (34 Hours/Week)

arenaflex is seeking a detail‑oriented, self‑motivated individual to join our Claims Intake Team on a part‑time basis. In this role, you will be the frontline guardian of data integrity, converting complex insurance claim documents and authorization requests into precise, structured information that fuels downstream processing and analytics. The position is fully remote, with flexible scheduling between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm CST, allowing you to balance work with personal commitments while contributing to a high‑performing, collaborative team.

Core Responsibilities

  • Accurate Data Capture: Enter data from a variety of insurance claim forms and provider authorization requests with a target speed of 8,200 keystrokes per hour (KSPH) while maintaining a 98 % accuracy rate.
  • Document Classification: Identify and differentiate claim types (e.g., inpatient, outpatient, pharmacy, dental) and apply the appropriate data entry guidelines for each category.
  • Imaging Software Navigation: Efficiently retrieve claim images, PDFs, and scanned documents using arenaflex’s proprietary imaging platform, ensuring rapid turnaround for each assignment.
  • Turnaround Time Management: Meet or exceed client‑specified processing windows by prioritizing work queues, monitoring deadlines, and communicating any bottlenecks to the team lead.
  • Quality Assurance: Perform peer reviews of fellow team members’ entries, flagging discrepancies, and providing constructive feedback in line with established quality standards.
  • Process Improvement: Contribute ideas for workflow enhancements, automation opportunities, and error‑reduction strategies; collaborate with supervisors to pilot and implement approved suggestions.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with remote teammates, supervisors, and client contacts to resolve ambiguous data points, clarify documentation requirements, and ensure seamless handoffs.
  • Additional Support Tasks: Assist with supplemental workflows such as data validation, exception handling, and ad‑hoc reporting when business needs arise.

Essential Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED accepted).
  • Experience: Minimum of six months (or more) in a data entry, transcription, or typing‑focused role, preferably within health‑care, insurance, or a similarly regulated industry.
  • Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated ability to achieve at least 8,200 KSPH with a 98 % accuracy rate on an online alphanumeric assessment.
  • Attention to Detail: Proven track record of meticulous data handling, error detection, and adherence to strict quality guidelines.
  • Communication Skills: Clear written communication for documenting findings, and effective verbal communication for remote collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications & Desirable Attributes

  • Previous experience processing health‑care claims, medical authorizations, or related documentation.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems, claim management platforms, or imaging software (e.g., OCR tools, PDF viewers).
  • Certification in medical coding (CPC, CCS) or a background in health‑care administration.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a remote work environment, including self‑discipline, reliable internet connectivity, and a dedicated workspace.
  • Strong problem‑solving mindset with a willingness to propose and test process improvements.

Key Skills and Competencies

  • Typing Speed & Accuracy: Consistently meet or exceed 8,200 KSPH while maintaining a 98 % or higher accuracy rate.
  • Data Integrity: Ability to spot inconsistencies, missing fields, and potential fraud indicators within claim documents.
  • Organizational Skills: Manage multiple claim queues, prioritize urgent items, and keep detailed logs of work completed.
  • Technical Literacy: Comfortable navigating web‑based imaging platforms, using keyboard shortcuts, and adapting to new software tools.
  • Team Collaboration: Proactive in offering assistance, sharing knowledge, and participating in virtual team meetings.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to shift between different claim types, adjust to evolving client requirements, and handle peak‑period workloads.
