The Opportunity: Real-World Evidence Data Scientist

We're seeking an exceptional Real-World Evidence Data Scientist to join our innovative Scientific Affairs team at arenaflex. This is more than just a data analysis position—it's an opportunity to shape healthcare outcomes through advanced data science methodologies and innovative analytical approaches in the clinical trials space. Key Responsibilities

  • Data Mining and Preparation: Mine raw datasets to deliver standardized, analysis-ready patient cohorts from in-house data resources or licensed platforms. You'll analyze and interpret results while contributing to the shaping of our overall analysis strategy.
  • Collaborative Analysis: Partner with members of arenaflex's Clinical Trials team to deliver meaningful insights from real-world, clinical, and diverse data sources. Support biopharmaceutical RWE and clinical trial requests through analysis of unmet needs, treatment efficacy and safety in specific disease states, treatment patterns and healthcare economic burden, and cost-effectiveness modeling.
  • Data Management: Clean, transform, and store data into an integrated data lake for future analysis and broader team utilization, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.
  • Advanced Statistical Analysis: Perform data mining and statistical analysis to examine RWE/RWD and discover new insights regarding patient populations and treatment outcomes.
  • Technical Development: Support the development of real-world data, analytics, and platform capabilities, applying advanced analytics and tools to address scientific questions from biopharmaceutical partners.
  • Study Design Collaboration: Collaborate on the design and implementation of outcomes research studies that address critical healthcare questions.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure high quality, comprehensive, and readily interpretable results from RWE studies and analyses that meet regulatory standards.
  • Visualization and Reporting: Build dashboards, analytics, and reports for both internal and external stakeholders, translating complex findings into actionable insights.
  • Vendor Management: Conduct due diligence on new real-world data provider vendors and drive RWD quality evaluations to inform project decisions.

Essential Qualifications

  • Experience in Statistical Analysis: Proven experience designing and executing robust and reproducible statistical analyses in the context of epidemiology and observational research with healthcare data.
  • Statistical Methodology: Strong knowledge of common statistical testing methods including generalized linear models, clustering and discrimination, decision trees, unsupervised learning, time series analysis, and survival analysis.
  • Data Handling: Demonstrated experience processing large datasets from multiple data sources with diverse structures and formats.
  • Data Privacy: Experience handling protected health information (PHI) with strict adherence to privacy regulations and security protocols.
  • Business Intelligence Tools: Proficiency with at least one of the following: Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Spotfire, or other BI/analytics tools.
  • Bachelor's Degree: Completion of a bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required.
  • Full-Time Position: This is a full-time remote position with standard 8-hour work hours, offering flexibility in scheduling.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Education: PhD or Master's degree in statistics, biostatistics, computer science, mathematics, systems engineering, biomedical engineering, or related field.
  • Healthcare IT Expertise: Specialized skill in EMR/Health IT systems, disease registries, and insurance claims databases.
  • Healthcare Data Standards: Expertise in clinical data standards, medical terminologies, and controlled vocabularies used in healthcare data and ontologies (ICD9/10/ReadCode).
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Experience with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) as well as compliance regulations for real-world evidence studies or clinical trials (e.g., ISO, MDD/MDR, CFR).
  • Innovative Data Collection: Experience working with alternative data sources and alternative methods for clinical data collection, particularly those enabled by technology platforms and solutions.
  • Advanced Methodologies: Experience with experimental design, Bayesian modeling, sequential data, and computational statistics.
  • Continuous Learning: Deep understanding of statistics and machine learning methods, with a strong capacity for continued self-learning of technical and non-technical skills.
