Position Overview

In this pivotal role, you will lead the development and implementation of packaging data strategies that drive brand love, enhance operational efficiency, and support our sustainability goals across all owned brands, exclusive partnerships, and travel packaging initiatives. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams worldwide to establish robust data frameworks, ensure compliance with industry standards, and deliver packaging solutions that exceed guest expectations.

This is a full-time position based in Minnesota, USA, with competitive compensation starting at $26 per hour. Key Responsibilities

As a Packaging Strategy Lead at arenaflex, you will be responsible for driving packaging excellence through data-informed decision making and strategic collaboration. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Data Architecture & Requirements Development: Build foundational data requirements, taxonomy structures, and specific governance frameworks to support packaging design optimization and sustainability initiatives across all owned brand categories.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with sourcing, design, store operations, marketing, supply chain, properties, and compliance program owners to establish relevant data requirements and flexible standards that consistently reflect our commitment to safety, reliability, cost efficiency, and performance.
  • Change Management & Documentation: Create and administer change cycles to ensure accurate packaging document management portfolios across multiple systems and partner teams.
  • Training & Enablement: Develop, manage, and execute innovative training and creative daily assets for internal and external audiences to drive comprehensive understanding of standards, specifications, and data accuracy best practices.
  • Solution Optimization: Evaluate data requirements, standards, and specifications to optimize safe, reliable, and cost-effective solutions that align with industry norms, enhance engineering practices, align with risk tolerance expectations, and maintain a leadership position in the industry.
  • Cross-Functional Guidance: Offer support and guidance to cross-functional teams and partners to ensure correct interpretation and enactment of packaging data requirements, standards, and specifications.
  • Risk Management & Compliance: Consult with appropriate internal governance and regulatory authorities, identifying effects on current data requirements and standards, taking action to mitigate risks and identify opportunities for compliance excellence.
  • Global Communication & Stakeholder Management: Work with cross-functional global partners to drive effective communication and roadshows around packaging development, compliance, and data accuracy best practice requirements and expectations.
  • Performance Analytics: Use data to identify trends or issues, in collaboration with technology teams, to measure effectiveness of training delivered and communications sent.
  • Industry Intelligence & Benchmarking: Investigate industry trends and assess corresponding data and standards practices, sharing insights and recommendations with appropriate stakeholders for improvement and compliance.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Provide leadership and guidance to others, driving effectiveness and efficiency in team outcomes. Create and maintain a positive team culture by demonstrating behaviors consistent with arenaflex's values of Inclusivity, Collaboration, and Drive; ensure ongoing, effective communications to the team, and support individual development by offering regular performance feedback, coaching, recognition, and evaluation.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned to support packaging strategy initiatives and business objectives.

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must possess the following qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Data Analytics, or a related field. Equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • Experience: Minimum of 4+ years of experience developing and managing documentation and standards programs, preferably including packaging design and development.
  • Strategic Influence: Ability to influence without authority, manage projects, work with groups, resolve conflict, build consensus, establish rapport, and collaborate effectively, both in-person and remotely, across all levels of an organization.
  • Communication Skills: Experience with documentation best practices, technical writing, and reporting. Skilled at developing and advising on content, structure, and delivery of effective training programs, roadshows, and communications.
  • Leadership Capabilities: Experience leading teams and/or projects, driving collaboration, empowerment, and cooperation.
  • Analytical Abilities: Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, creative thinking, and analytical skills.
  • Industry Knowledge: Related experience with packaging or consumer products manufacturing preferred.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility and resilience; open to working in uncertain and continuously changing environments.
  • Time Management: Ability to prioritize, handle multiple assignments, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

  • Technical Proficiency: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel), and Vizient applications or similar data visualization tools.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications will give you a competitive edge:

  • Advanced degree in Packaging Engineering, Business Analytics, or related field
  • Certification in packaging sustainability (e.g., SPC, ISTA)
  • Experience with retail or consumer goods packaging in a Fortune 500 environment
  • Knowledge of international packaging regulations and standards (ISO, ASTM, FTC)
  • Proficiency in ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle
  • Experience working with global supply chain partners in Asia-Pacific or EMEA regions
  • Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing certification
  • Demonstrated success in driving sustainability initiatives through data-driven approaches
