Join arenaflex: Build the Future of Data-Driven Healthcare Innovation

Are you passionate about transforming raw data into meaningful insights that drive real-world business decisions? arenaflex, a forward-thinking leader in data-powered solutions, is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Remote Data Engineer to join our expanding analytics and infrastructure team. This is an exceptional opportunity for early-career professionals and entry-level candidates who are eager to grow within a supportive, innovation-driven environment while earning a competitive rate of $28 per hour.

At arenaflex, we believe that data is the backbone of every strategic decision, every customer experience enhancement, and every operational improvement. As a member of our remote team based in Indiana, you will play a crucial role in constructing, maintaining, and optimizing large-scale data pipelines that fuel advanced analytics and data science initiatives across the organization. If you are someone who enjoys solving complex problems, writing clean and efficient code, and collaborating with talented data professionals, this position offers the perfect launchpad for your career.

About the Role

As a Data Engineer at arenaflex, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the data infrastructure that supports our reporting, analytics, and machine learning capabilities. Working closely with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders, you will identify valuable internal and external data sources, develop robust ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, and ensure data quality, consistency, and accessibility throughout the organization.

This is a full-time remote position offering eight hours of work per day with flexible scheduling arrangements that promote work-life balance. You will have the opportunity to work on enterprise-level projects involving cloud-based technologies, particularly within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem, while growing your technical expertise in one of the most in-demand fields in technology today.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Pipeline Development: Design, develop, and maintain scalable, repeatable, and secure data pipelines that integrate, collect, and normalize data from diverse sources to generate actionable insights and meet reporting requirements.
  • Programming and Software Engineering: Write efficient programming code that processes, stores, and serves data for consumption by data scientists, analysts, and other downstream users across the organization.
  • ETL Process Design: Develop comprehensive Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes, architect database systems, and create tools that enable both real-time and batch-oriented analytical processing.
  • Data Architecture: Build and optimize data architectures that ensure high performance, reliability, and security while supporting the evolving needs of business intelligence and analytics teams.
  • Data Quality Assurance: Investigate and troubleshoot software and processing issues to ensure data consistency and integrity. Integrate data from multiple sources while ensuring adherence to data quality and accessibility standards.
  • Problem Resolution: Proactively identify and resolve issues and obstacles as they arise, implementing long-term solutions that prevent recurrence.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Engage with internal and external peers, as well as management, to exchange semi-complex information related to assigned activities and projects.
  • Documentation and Best Practices: Maintain thorough documentation of data processes, pipeline configurations, and engineering standards to support knowledge sharing and operational continuity.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay current with emerging data engineering tools, cloud technologies, and industry best practices, and contribute ideas for enhancing the team's technical capabilities.

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, or a related technical field; OR equivalent practical experience and an advanced education in a technical discipline.
  • Experience: At least two years of experience in data engineering, data development, or a closely related field. However, motivated entry-level candidates with strong foundational skills and relevant project experience are encouraged to apply.
  • SQL Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of SQL, including the ability to write complex queries, optimize database performance, and design relational database structures.
  • Relationship Building: Demonstrated experience establishing and maintaining productive working relationships with internal stakeholders (peers, colleagues, and leadership) and external partners (business community, clients, and vendors) within a matrix organizational structure to uphold quality standards for service delivery.
  • Analytical Skills: Proven ability to analyze and report data to identify issues, trends, or exceptions, drive improvement of results, and develop effective solutions.
  • Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel up to 10 percent of the time for business purposes, including both in-state and out-of-state engagements.
  • Remote Work Readiness: A dedicated home office setup with reliable high-speed internet and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates who bring the following additional qualifications will be given priority consideration:

  • Advanced Education: Master's degree or higher in a technical discipline such as Data Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology.

  • Azure Technologies Expertise: Proficiency in Azure services including Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks (using Python or Scala), App Services, Azure Data Lake, Azure Functions, Event Hubs, Event Grid, and Logic Apps.
  • DevOps and CI/CD: Experience building Azure DevOps pipelines to enable Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and automation practices.
