This is your chance to join a forward‑thinking organization that values curiosity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Role Overview – Network Engineer II (Remote)

The Network Engineer II at arenaflex is a critical member of the Infrastructure Design team, responsible for designing, building, and automating robust network solutions that power the company’s streaming platforms. This full‑time, remote position offers a competitive hourly rate of $28 and is open to candidates with a bachelor’s degree who are eager to grow their expertise in network engineering, automation, and large‑scale infrastructure management. While prior experience is valued, arenaflex welcomes motivated individuals who demonstrate a solid technical foundation and a passion for learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Network Architects, Security Engineers, and cross‑functional partners to translate high‑level designs into detailed implementation plans.
  • Design, deploy, and automate network services—including VLANs, firewalls, load balancers, and NAT devices—to support 10 G, 40 G, and 100 G capacity upgrades.
  • Maintain 24 × 7 operational support for production networks, ensuring high availability and rapid incident resolution.
  • Develop and update network documentation, diagrams, and run‑books to reflect current configurations and best practices.
  • Perform root‑cause analysis on network incidents, leveraging packet captures, flow analysis, and telemetry data to identify and remediate underlying issues.
  • Participate in medium‑scale projects, ensuring deliverables align with architectural standards and business objectives.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders at all organizational levels to communicate status, risks, and mitigation strategies.
  • Assist in the creation of automated monitoring and alerting solutions using scripting languages (Python, Bash, or Perl) and configuration management tools.
  • Support the development and testing of network security policies, including firewall rule sets, IDS/IPS configurations, and VPN solutions.
  • Contribute to on‑call rotation and incident response processes, providing timely updates to leadership and customers.

Essential Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Technical Foundations: Strong understanding of networking fundamentals—TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, and subnetting.
  • Hands‑On Experience: Practical exposure to firewalls (zone‑based, web‑application), load balancers, switches, routers, and NAT devices.
  • Security Acumen: Familiarity with IDS/IPS, VPN technologies, and basic security concepts such as OSCP principles.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to diagnose network problems using structured troubleshooting methods and data‑driven analysis.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; capable of translating technical details for non‑technical audiences.
  • Team Orientation: Proven ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced, cross‑functional environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the media or digital content delivery industry, understanding the unique performance and latency requirements of streaming services.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices such as ISO/IEC 27001, NIST, and ITIL.
  • Exposure to risk assessment frameworks, change management processes, and security incident response methodologies.
  • Programming or scripting proficiency in Python, Perl, Ruby, Shell, C, or C++ to support automation initiatives.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring platforms (e.g., SolarWinds, Grafana, Prometheus) and packet‑capture tools (Wireshark, tcpdump).
  • Understanding of cloud networking concepts (AWS VPC, Azure Virtual Network) and software‑defined networking (SDN) principles.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Automation Mindset: Passion for building repeatable, code‑driven processes that reduce manual effort and increase reliability.
  • Problem‑Solving: Ability to break down complex issues into manageable components and propose pragmatic solutions.
  • Adaptability: Comfort working in a dynamic environment where priorities shift quickly and new technologies emerge regularly.
  • Customer Focus: Commitment to delivering high‑quality service to internal partners and external customers.
  • Continuous Learning: Proactive pursuit of certifications, training, and industry trends to stay ahead of the curve.
