Director of Commercial Origination

About the Opportunity We are partnering with a rapidly scaling, well-capitalized power generation platform to hire a senior origination leader focused on data center and large-load customers. This platform has successfully developed and operates a multi-gigawatt fleet of flexible natural gas generation assets and is now deploying that capability to support the next wave of power demand driven by hyperscalers and data center campus development. The company is backed by top-tier infrastructure investors and combines development, construction, and operations under one vertically integrated platform-allowing it to deliver power solutions with a level of speed and certainty that is highly differentiated in the market. The Role This is a front-office origination leadership role responsible for developing, structuring, and executing long-term power agreements with hyperscalers, data center developers, utilities, and large commercial & industrial customers. You will play a central role in commercializing a large and growing pipeline of generation assets, including projects designed for co-location with data centers and microgrid applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Originate, structure, and close Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), tolling agreements, and bespoke energy contracts
  • Develop relationships with hyperscalers, data center operators, utilities, and large energy users
  • Identify and pursue bilateral opportunities and RFPs in competitive power markets
  • Structure co-located and behind-the-meter power solutions for large-load customers
  • Partner with internal development, finance, and legal teams to bring transactions to execution
  • Lead commercial negotiations and drive deals from concept through contract close
  • Perform market analysis, pricing strategies, and risk assessments to optimize project value
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of new origination opportunities

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • 10+ years of experience in power origination, energy procurement, or structured energy transactions
  • Demonstrated track record of negotiating and closing PPAs or complex power deals
  • Strong relationships with data centers, hyperscalers, utilities, or large C&I offtakers
  • Deep understanding of power markets, pricing structures, and risk management
  • Commercially driven with a proven ability to source and close opportunities ("hunter" mindset)
  • Experience structuring transactions across multiple markets and customer types
