Telecom Project Lead

Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Telecommunications Project Lead to support the design and delivery of complex technology infrastructure projects across the United States. This role is open to candidates in any U.S. location, with preference for individuals located near a major engineering or design office. This position is ideal for someone with strong structured cabling design experience, technical leadership ability, and a background supporting data center, mission critical, commercial, or industrial facility projects. The selected candidate will support the full design lifecycle, from early project assessment and concept development through construction documentation, stakeholder coordination, and project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Lead telecommunications and low voltage design efforts for complex facility projects
  • Support preliminary assessments, concept development, design planning, and technical coordination
  • Design structured cabling systems, wireless infrastructure, audio visual systems, and other low voltage systems
  • Provide technical design leadership for data center, mission critical, commercial, or industrial building projects
  • Coordinate with engineers, subject matter experts, BIM designers, project managers, clients, vendors, and internal teams
  • Lead BIM designers in the preparation of engineering drawings and construction documentation
  • Create, update, and modify Division 27 telecommunications specifications
  • Review drawings, specifications, technical documents, and project deliverables for accuracy and compliance
  • Conduct site visits to assess existing conditions, support design development, and resolve field related issues
  • Respond to RFIs, submittals, substitution requests, and technical questions during project execution
  • Support internal and external problem resolution throughout the design and construction process
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining project schedules, budgets, quality expectations, and client requirements
  • Assist with project planning, scope development, budgeting, scheduling, risk identification, and risk mitigation
  • Maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, external partners, clients, and vendors
  • Support responses to RFPs and contribute to proposal development as needed
  • Work closely with senior technical leaders while continuing to grow technical and project leadership capabilities

Required Qualifications

  • Technical degree or associate’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience actively designing or leading the design of telecommunications structured cabling systems
  • Thorough knowledge of ANSI/TIA standards
  • Thorough knowledge of BICSI standards
  • Strong understanding of NFPA 70 and how it applies to telecommunications structured cabling systems
  • Familiarity working with Navisworks
  • Experience coordinating with other disciplines, project managers, clients, vendors, and construction teams
  • Strong project management skills
  • Familiarity with responding to RFPs
  • Experience creating project budgets
  • Experience creating and maintaining project schedules
  • Experience identifying and mitigating project or company risk
  • RCDD credential, or ability to obtain RCDD certification within one year of hire
  • Strong communication, organization, problem solving, and technical coordination skills
  • Self motivated and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced project environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting data center, mission critical, large commercial, industrial, or technology infrastructure projects
  • Experience with additional low voltage systems including security, audio visual, and wireless systems
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline
  • Experience installing telecommunications systems
  • Experience reading, reviewing, and analyzing telecommunications system test results
  • Experience troubleshooting installation issues related to structured cabling and telecommunications systems
  • Experience coordinating telecommunications design with electrical, architectural, mechanical, security, and technology teams
