The Role: Data Management Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Management Specialist to join our distributed systems team and help optimize and expand our infrastructure as we work toward our ambitious goal of reaching 500 million subscribers worldwide. Key Responsibilities

• Manage and process high-volume data entry tasks with accuracy and efficiency
• Ensure data integrity across multiple platforms and systems
• Develop and maintain data processing workflows for various business units

Focus Areas in arenaflex's Data Infrastructure Teams

Data Access Platform

The Data Access Platform team builds and operates a flexible query gateway that facilitates data abstractions to operate at sub-millisecond latencies while allowing arenaflex microservices to more easily store, consume, and manage their data. This team holds significant responsibility in enabling our microservices to meet their constantly evolving and developing data needs. Members of this team are passionate about distributed data systems technology, active in the open-source community, and committed to a culture of feedback and engineering excellence.

Data Platform Foundation

The Data Platform Foundation team serves as the platform for our internal data platforms. Our shared infrastructure and tooling enable arenaflex to rapidly innovate in delivering cutting-edge data and analytics systems to the rest of the organization without building custom platforms for each new system. We create high-impact system control, and deployment systems customized for the needs of running our data systems at scale, with many of our tools and systems written in Python.

Data Development and Processing

This team offers a pre-empted self-service platform enabling diverse user personas across arenaflex to meet their low-latency Data Development and Processing needs. We provide abstractions over complex streaming architectures like Kafka and Flink, offer a graph-driven processing experience, and invest in operational automation, reliability, and tools for predictable data quality.

Big Data Compute

Responsible for providing the cloud-native platform for distributed data processing at arenaflex. This team is vital to batch data processing in our Data Platform. We support Presto to ETL data into our Petabyte-scale data warehouse and access that data using Presto and TrinoDB. We also provide sub-second latency for certain classes of queries using Druid. Team members tackle interesting and challenging problems of working with data at scale, build features and performance improvements, and work closely with open-source communities to shape projects and make contributions.

Big Data Orchestration

Offers the platform for scheduling, orchestrating, and executing big data jobs and workflows in a self-serve manner. These platforms include core services that run all ETL and ML tasks on Big Data Systems at arenaflex. These fully distributed systems are continuously evolving for arenaflex scale with cutting-edge technology. We are moving toward event-driven and intelligent orchestration requiring minimal user input/mediation.

Essential Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in building or managing large-scale data entry or data processing systems
• Proficient in the design and development of RESTful data services
• Experience building and operating scalable, fault-tolerant data systems
• Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
• Comfortable with multi-threaded data processing challenges
• Ability to work independently and as part of a distributed team

Preferred Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
• Experience with data visualization and reporting tools
• Familiarity with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Experience with data governance and compliance standards
• Knowledge of database technologies (SQL, NoSQL)
• Experience with data integration and ETL processes
• Familiarity with at least one programming language (Java, Python, JavaScript, etc.)
