Position Overview

The Enterprise Data Storage Administrator will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining arenaflex's enterprise data storage environments, ensuring high availability, data protection, and optimal performance across all storage infrastructure components. This role requires a deep understanding of enterprise storage technologies including Network Attached Storage (NAS), Storage Area Networks (SAN), and Direct Attached Storage (DAS) configurations. The ideal candidate will serve as the subject matter expert in enterprise storage operations and engineering, demonstrating the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

As part of the IT infrastructure team at arenaflex, you will be entrusted with mission-critical responsibilities including managing data backup operations, implementing storage capacity planning strategies, collaborating with application and database teams on storage architecture decisions, and ensuring the security and integrity of our organizational data assets. Key Responsibilities

  • Enterprise Storage Environment Management: Administer and maintain enterprise data storage environments including NAS, SAN, and DAS systems, ensuring high availability and optimal performance for all business applications and services.
  • Data Protection & Backup Operations: Implement and manage enterprise backup and data protection technologies, including backup scheduling, restoration procedures, and disaster recovery planning to protect critical business data.
  • Storage Infrastructure Monitoring: Effectively manage and monitor reporting platforms and storage management software to identify performance issues, capacity constraints, and potential security risks before they impact business operations.
  • Capacity Planning & Optimization: Define and implement strategic capacity planning techniques based on industry best practices, ensuring scalable storage solutions that support arenaflex's growing business needs while optimizing infrastructure costs.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Interface and communicate with application, database, server, and other technology teams on storage architecture and configuration decisions to ensure appropriate storage technology implementation and design alignment with business requirements.
  • Project Management: Demonstrate strong organizational abilities to manage and prioritize multiple projects in a continuously changing work environment, meeting deadlines and delivering quality results under pressure.
  • Technical Documentation: Produce clear and concise documentation for both routine daily operations and periodic maintenance tasks, including system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Technical Support & Guidance: Provide advanced technical support and guidance on complex activities such as installation, configuration, and backup/recovery operations for all storage infrastructure systems.
  • System Maintenance & Security: Perform code updates and security patching to maintain the health and security of storage systems, ensuring compliance with organizational security policies and industry regulations.
  • Performance Tuning: Analyze storage system performance metrics and implement optimization strategies to improve efficiency and reduce infrastructure costs.
  • Incident Response: Respond to storage-related incidents and alerts, performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Technology Evaluation: Evaluate emerging storage technologies and recommend solutions that align with arenaflex's strategic objectives and budget requirements.

Essential Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in data storage or a related field with emphasis on networking and storage protocols, including hands-on experience with enterprise-level storage implementations.
  • SAN Expertise: Must have industry knowledge and proven experience with large-scale SAN design and implementation, demonstrating understanding of storage networking fundamentals, zoning, and LUN masking.
  • OEM Experience: Demonstrated expertise in enterprise storage arrays, with direct experience working with Dell EMC, Cisco, and similar Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) solutions.
  • Data Protection Technologies: Solid understanding of modern and advanced data protection technologies including backup software, snapshot management, replication, and disaster recovery solutions.
  • NAS Protocols: Strong experience with NAS concepts and protocols including Common Internet File System (CIFS), Network File System (NFS), and S3-compatible object storage implementations.
  • Data Synchronization: Comprehensive knowledge of data synchronization technologies for both SAN and NAS environments, including synchronous and asynchronous replication strategies.
  • Operating System Administration: Strong operating system platform administration skills with proficiency in both Linux and Windows server environments, including command-line interfaces and system configuration.
  • Virtualization: Working knowledge of VMware concepts and virtualization technologies, including virtual storage architectures and VMFS datastores.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry Certifications: Relevant industry certifications such as EMC Proven Professional, Cisco Storage Networking, or equivalent manufacturer certifications are highly desirable.
  • Cloud Storage Experience: Experience with cloud storage integration and hybrid storage architectures, including connectivity with major cloud providers.
  • Scripting & Automation: Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash for automation of routine storage management tasks.
  • Project Management Methodology: Experience with project management methodologies including Agile, Scrum, or ITIL frameworks.

  • Technical Documentation: Ability to produce clear and well-organized technical documentation for diverse audiences, including system administrators, engineers, and management stakeholders.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex technical concepts in a clear and understandable manner to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Hardware Lifecycle Management: Hands-on experience with enterprise hardware lifecycle management, including planning, procurement, deployment, and decommissioning of storage equipment.
  • Troubleshooting Expertise: Broad troubleshooting and performance monitoring abilities, with experience using industry-standard monitoring and diagnostic tools.
  • Autonomous Work: Ability to act independently under broad direction, managing multiple priorities and meeting established service level agreements.
  • Continuous Learning: Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with emerging storage technologies, industry trends, and best practices.

Education Requirements

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline is required.
