With a relentless focus on innovation, arenaflex empowers teams worldwide to push the boundaries of what’s possible, from advanced cloud platforms to AI‑powered developer tools. As a fully remote‑first organization, arenaflex believes that talent thrives when given the flexibility to work from any location, while still fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high‑performance culture.

Why This Role Matters

Our Cloud Innovations Application Platform (AP) team is on a mission to revolutionize the developer experience by integrating generative artificial intelligence into the software development lifecycle. We are seeking a highly skilled Remote AI/ML Engineer who will design, develop, and operationalize advanced machine‑learning models that power next‑generation developer tools. This role sits at the intersection of data science, software engineering, and product innovation, offering a unique opportunity to influence the future of AI‑enhanced development platforms used by thousands of engineers worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Model Design & Development: Architect, build, and fine‑tune state‑of‑the‑art machine‑learning models—including large language models, transformer architectures, and vector embeddings—to solve complex product‑focused challenges.
  • Data Pipeline Engineering: Create robust data ingestion, cleaning, and preprocessing pipelines using Python, R, SQL, and cloud storage solutions such as Amazon S3, Azure Blob, and distributed file systems.
  • Model Deployment & Monitoring: Implement scalable model serving frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow Serving, TorchServe, FastAPI) and establish automated monitoring, logging, and alerting to ensure high availability and performance.
  • Experimentation & Optimization: Conduct rigorous A/B testing, hyper‑parameter tuning, and model evaluation using metrics such as precision, recall, F1‑score, and latency to continuously improve predictive accuracy.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Partner with AI engineers, software developers, product managers, and data analysts to translate business requirements into technical specifications and deliver end‑to‑end AI solutions.
  • Data Quality Assurance: Perform comprehensive data validation, handle missing values, outliers, and ensure data integrity throughout the model lifecycle.
  • Knowledge Transfer & Documentation: Communicate complex AI concepts to non‑technical stakeholders, produce clear documentation, and mentor junior team members on best practices in machine learning.
  • Innovation & Thought Leadership: Stay abreast of emerging AI research, contribute ideas to the product roadmap, and champion the adoption of novel techniques that drive competitive advantage.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related quantitative field (Master’s or Ph.D. preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience in product‑focused machine‑learning roles, with a strong emphasis on natural language processing (NLP) and large‑scale model development.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and SQL, and familiarity with data‑engineering tools like Apache Spark, Airflow, or Prefect.
  • Demonstrated expertise in deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras) and experience deploying models at scale on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Solid understanding of transformer architectures, vector embeddings, and the practical application of generative AI to solve real‑world problems.
  • Track record of designing, training, and fine‑tuning large language models, including experience with model serving, latency optimization, and cost‑effective scaling.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret model results, generate actionable insights, and communicate findings to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills, self‑motivation, and the ability to thrive in a fully remote, fast‑paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications & Additional Skills

  • Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with MLOps tools such as MLflow, Kubeflow, or DVC for model lifecycle management.
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines for AI workloads.
  • Knowledge of data governance, privacy regulations, and ethical AI practices.
  • Prior exposure to developer tooling, IDE extensions, or code‑completion engines powered by AI.
  • Publications or contributions to open‑source AI projects, conferences, or community forums.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Technical Acumen: Deep expertise in machine learning algorithms, statistical modeling, and large‑scale data processing.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work seamlessly with multidisciplinary teams across time zones, fostering a culture of shared ownership and continuous learning.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills; capable of translating complex technical concepts into clear business value.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable navigating ambiguous problems, iterating quickly, and pivoting based on feedback and emerging research.
  • Leadership: Mentorship mindset, guiding junior engineers and promoting best practices in AI development.
  • Customer‑Centric Focus: Commitment to delivering solutions that enhance developer productivity and satisfaction.
