Position Overview

This role is ideal for professionals who thrive on transforming raw data into actionable intelligence, designing robust data pipelines, and ensuring the highest standards of data quality. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams, including data scientists, product managers, and engineering leads, to drive data ingestion, model development, and analytics delivery at scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive data ingestion into the enterprise data lake, ensuring timely, accurate, and secure transfer of large‑volume datasets.
  • Implement best‑practice data modeling techniques to deliver domain‑specific data models that support analytics, reporting, and machine‑learning initiatives.
  • Create, maintain, and evolve data quality standards and governance policies that align with regulatory requirements and internal best practices.
  • Lead the design and implementation of data pipeline optimization strategies to improve performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Collaborate with the broader analytics engineering team to ensure the design phase fully supports downstream analytical and reporting needs.
  • Facilitate cross‑functional collaboration on data projects, acting as a liaison between data engineers, business stakeholders, and external partners.
  • Manage external vendor relationships for data‑related initiatives, ensuring deliverables meet arenaflex’s quality and timeline expectations.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for data pipelines, data models, and governance processes.
  • Mentor junior team members, sharing knowledge on data architecture, pipeline orchestration, and quality assurance techniques.
  • Continuously monitor data health metrics, proactively identifying and resolving data anomalies, bottlenecks, or integrity issues.

Essential Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Experience: Minimum of two consecutive years of hands‑on experience in data/analytics engineering within a private, public, government, or military environment.
  • Technical Foundations: Strong understanding of data modeling concepts, statistical analysis, and data visualization principles.
  • Tool Proficiency: Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as IICS, Airflow, Oozie, or DBT for managing complex data pipelines.
  • Big Data Platforms: Familiarity with large‑scale data platforms (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Snowflake, Redshift) and associated data ingestion frameworks.
  • Critical Thinking: Ability to work with massive, complex data sets, identify patterns, and propose data‑driven solutions.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven track record of collaborating across diverse teams and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications & Additional Skills

  • Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in a quantitative discipline.
  • Hands‑on experience with cloud data services (AWS, Azure, GCP) and serverless data processing.
  • Knowledge of data cataloging and metadata management tools.
  • Experience implementing data governance frameworks such as DAMA‑DMBoK or ISO 8000.
  • Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in data engineering (Python, Scala, Java, SQL).
  • Exposure to machine‑learning pipelines and model deployment workflows.
  • Certifications in data engineering, cloud architecture, or data governance (e.g., Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer, AWS Certified Data Analytics).

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Analytical Mindset: Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications and data solutions.
  • Problem‑Solving: Proactive approach to identifying root causes of data issues and implementing sustainable fixes.
  • Collaboration: Strong teamwork orientation, comfortable working in a fully remote environment with distributed teams.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to navigate evolving technology stacks, shifting priorities, and fast‑paced project timelines.
  • Attention to Detail: Commitment to data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with governance standards.
