With a strong commitment to digital transformation, arenaflex blends deep industry expertise with cutting‑edge cloud technologies to create a seamless, secure, and scalable data ecosystem. Our mission is to turn complex data into actionable insights, enabling better decision‑making for both our internal teams and the communities we serve.

Why This Role Matters

As a Senior Data Engineer at arenaflex, you will be at the heart of our data strategy, designing and building robust pipelines that move, transform, and store massive volumes of information. Your work will directly influence how business units across the organization access reliable data, power analytics, and develop predictive models that drive strategic initiatives. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of data engineering in a fast‑growing, remote‑first environment while earning a competitive rate of $50 per hour.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect, develop, and maintain large‑scale data pipelines that ingest, cleanse, and enrich data from diverse sources, ensuring high availability and low latency.
  • Design and implement ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes using Python, SQL, and modern orchestration tools to support both batch and real‑time workloads.
  • Collaborate with data science, analytics, and product teams to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions.
  • Build and optimize data models, data warehouses, and data lakes on cloud platforms (preferably GCP, with experience in AWS or Azure considered a plus).
  • Implement best practices for data governance, security, and compliance, adhering to industry standards for health‑care data.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Hive, PySpark, streaming platforms) and recommend strategic adoption pathways.
  • Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and champion a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
  • Monitor pipeline performance, troubleshoot issues, and proactively enhance system reliability and scalability.
  • Document architecture diagrams, data flow specifications, and operational runbooks for cross‑functional consumption.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies, provide accurate estimations, and deliver high‑quality increments on schedule.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands‑on experience in data engineering or a closely related field.
  • Proven expertise with SQL, including complex query optimization and schema design.
  • Strong programming skills in Python; familiarity with other major languages (Java, Scala) is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience building data pipelines on cloud platforms (GCP preferred; AWS or Azure acceptable).
  • Solid understanding of data modeling concepts, data warehousing, and data lake architectures.
  • Excellent communication, analytical reasoning, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands‑on experience with Hadoop ecosystem tools such as Hive, HBase, or Spark (PySpark).
  • Familiarity with data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Looker) and reporting tools.
  • Exposure to the health‑care industry, especially working with regulated data sets.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure‑as‑code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Knowledge of data security frameworks (HIPAA, GDPR) and best practices for data privacy.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Technical Mastery: Ability to design end‑to‑end data solutions that are performant, maintainable, and secure.
  • Collaboration: Strong team player who can work effectively with cross‑functional partners, translating technical concepts into business value.
  • Innovation Mindset: Curiosity to explore new tools, frameworks, and methodologies that can improve data processing efficiency.
  • Attention to Detail: Commitment to data quality, consistency, and documentation.
  • Leadership: Experience guiding junior engineers and fostering a culture of mentorship.
