The Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) is looking for a Director of State Public Policy to lead advocacy and legislative engagement across the U.S. at the state level. In this highly visible role, you’ll work with policymakers, regulators, and industry leaders to advance data-driven innovation while protecting consumer trust.   • Policy Development & Advocacy
  • Lead state-level engagement on legislative and regulatory issues impacting the digital advertising industry.
  • Serve as a registered lobbyist before state legislatures, advancing thoughtful, innovation-friendly policies around data privacy, technology, and digital media.
  • Analyze legislation, regulation, and self-regulatory proposals to ensure IAB and its members remain proactive and well-positioned.
  • Craft policy positions and briefing materials that clearly communicate industry priorities to lawmakers and the public.
  • Member Engagement
  • Keep IAB members informed through regular policy updates, summaries, and insights on key state developments.
  • Provide strategic guidance to members navigating compliance, advocacy, and state-level initiatives.
  • Build coalitions and foster relationships with advocacy partners and policymakers to amplify industry impact.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience in state-level public policy, government relations, or legislative affairs, ideally focused on digital advertising, technology, or media.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Strong understanding of how public policy intersects with business innovation.
  • Exceptional communicator—able to distill complex topics into clear, persuasive messages for executives, policymakers, and public audiences.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment, strategic thinking, and political acumen.
  • Self-starter who thrives in dynamic environments, balancing multiple priorities while delivering measurable outcomes.
