Penn State University is seeking an Administrative Assistant to support the daily operations of the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences. The role involves coordinating administrative processes, assisting faculty and staff, and providing operational support across multiple departments.

Responsibilities

  • Initiating and coordinating routine administrative and purchasing transactions using University systems (such as PSU Buy, ServiceNow, and Concur)
  • Helping faculty, staff, students, and postdoctoral scholars navigate administrative processes
  • Tracking and following up on requests to ensure timely and accurate completion
  • Serving as a reliable point of contact for administrative questions and guidance
  • Partnering with central offices to support efficient processing and issue resolution
  • Assisting with wage payroll administration (job postings and timekeeping)
  • Providing flexible administrative support across multiple departments

Skills

  • General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or High School (HS)
  • 2+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted
  • No prior relevant work experience required; previous relevant work experience accepted in lieu of education
  • Experience in administrative support or operations
  • Familiarity with systems such as ServiceNow, Concur, or similar platforms
  • Experience working in a higher education or large organizational environment
