International Credential Evaluator (Independent Contractor – Remote, U.S.-based)

Alianza Academic Evaluations is seeking experienced and detail-oriented independent contractor evaluators to join our growing international credential evaluation team. Alianza Academic Evaluations is an AICE-Endorsed member organization providing professional international credential evaluation services. Applicants must be physically based in the United States and authorized to work as independent contractors in the U.S. This is a remote independent contractor opportunity intended for experienced credential evaluation professionals capable of independently preparing professional-quality evaluations with minimal supervision or training. Position Overview This position requires the ability to independently conduct and prepare professional-quality credential evaluations with minimal supervision or training. Contract evaluators are responsible for reviewing international academic credentials, researching educational systems and institutions, and preparing professional credential evaluation reports that determine U.S. educational equivalencies, credits, grades, GPAs, and degree comparability. Evaluators work independently and are assigned evaluations based on their regional expertise, experience, and availability.

Responsibilities

  • Review international academic credentials and supporting documentation
  • Research foreign educational systems, institutions, grading scales, and academic programs
  • Determine U.S. equivalencies using established policies and professional resources
  • Prepare accurate and well-written credential evaluation reports
  • Apply internal evaluation policies and procedures consistently
  • Identify potential document irregularities or concerns
  • Communicate professionally with internal staff regarding evaluation questions or clarification needs
  • Meet assigned turnaround timelines and quality standards

Preferred Areas of Expertise We are particularly interested in evaluators with experience evaluating credentials from:

  • Latin America
  • India
  • Philippines
  • Africa
  • Middle East
  • Former Soviet countries

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience preparing foreign/international credential evaluations or conducting comparative education analysis in a professional setting
  • Demonstrated experience independently preparing course-by-course and/or document-by-document credential evaluations
  • Strong working knowledge of international educational systems, grading scales, degree structures, and institutional recognition practices
  • Familiarity with standard professional resources used in credential evaluation, including AACRAO, AICE, TAICEP, NAFSA, government, and institutional resources
  • Ability to independently research and analyze unfamiliar educational systems and credentials with minimal supervision
  • Excellent analytical, research, writing, and organizational skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, consistency, and professional judgment
  • Ability to manage deadlines and work independently in a remote environment
  • Strong professional written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and online research tools
  • Must be physically located within the United States and authorized to work as an independent contractor in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience evaluating teacher preparation or educator licensure credentials
  • Expertise evaluating credentials from one or more specialized regions or educational systems
  • Foreign language reading proficiency relevant to credential evaluation work
  • TAICEP membership, certification, or active professional involvement in international education organizations
  • Experience identifying fraudulent, altered, or non-authentic academic documents
  • Experience evaluating complex or nontraditional educational pathways
  • Experience with translation or interpretation of academic documents
  • Experience contributing to evaluation policy development, training, or quality assurance initiatives

Compensation

This is a 1099 independent contractor position with compensation provided on a per-evaluation basis. Additional compensation opportunities are available for:

  • Translation-related evaluations
  • Rush evaluations
  • Specialized or complex evaluations
