Investment Analyst & Trader, Markets & Options - Early Career

Remote, USA Full-time Posted 2026-06-09

About the Opportunity A private investment partnership focused on equities, options, macro, and alternative data-driven strategies is hiring an Investment Analyst to join its research and portfolio team. Analysts work directly on live positions alongside senior investors, helping develop trade ideas, contributing to risk and portfolio analysis, and building the judgment required to make decisions in fast-moving markets. The role suits a strong recent graduate, an early-career professional, or a career switcher with serious analytical ability and a genuine interest in markets. Prior Wall Street experience helps, but it is not the only path. What counts most is intellectual horsepower, curiosity, work ethic, and the ability to think clearly under uncertainty. What You'll Work On

  • Analysts contribute across the full investment process: equity research and sector work, options and derivatives research (volatility, positioning, risk/reward), financial modeling and valuation, macro surveillance across rates, currencies, commodities, and equities, alternative data sourcing and thesis development, trade idea generation, investment committee prep, and portfolio risk monitoring and post-trade review.
  • Analysts communicate investment views, catalysts, risks, and probability-weighted outcomes clearly in writing.

The right candidate learns quickly, asks good questions, defends their work, and revises their view when the facts change. Who We're Looking For This role is for people genuinely interested in markets, not just a finance job. Strong candidates come from finance, economics, mathematics, engineering, computer science, statistics, data science, accounting, physics, and other rigorous backgrounds. Applicants may be recent graduates, graduate students, early-career analysts, traders, former founders, or people who built market knowledge independently. What matters most is whether a candidate can build and defend an investment thesis, understand how markets price risk and expectations, work with financial statements and data, separate signal from noise, communicate concisely, stay intellectually honest when wrong, and improve quickly from feedback.

Preferred Qualifications

Viewed favorably, though not required:

  • Prior experience in investment research, trading, asset management, hedge funds, private equity, equity research, corporate finance, consulting, or data-intensive roles.
  • Strong Excel, Python, or research skills.
  • Relevant finance training or credentials, including CFA Level 1+, Certified Futures and Options Analyst (CFOA), CAIA, or equivalent programs.
  • Completion of TrendUp Now's L3 or Specialization and Recruitment Program, which may fast-track the review process.

Why This Role Is Different This is a small-team environment where strong analysts gain meaningful responsibility quickly. The role places analysts close to the investment process from the start, with mentorship from senior portfolio managers and direct feedback on research, models, and judgment. For the right person, this builds a practical investing skill set that is difficult to acquire in a traditional entry-level finance role. Compensation & Benefits Base salary of $92,000 to $148,000 depending on background and experience, plus performance-based bonus opportunity, 401(k) with matching, paid time off, professional development support, remote and hybrid flexibility for qualified candidates, direct mentorship from senior investment professionals, and merit-based advancement for top performers. Special Note for TrendUp Graduates Candidates who have completed the TrendUp's Specialization and Recruitment Program (SRP), are already part of an active candidate pipeline. If you have completed the SRP, you do not need to submit a separate application unless specifically instructed. You may be contacted directly if your profile matches current needs. Applicants currently enrolled in TrendUp (in any stage) should indicate this in the screening questions.
