Remote, USA Full-time Posted 2026-06-08

Role Description Kin is seeking a Claims Adjuster with first-party property claims experience to join our growing team. Because we tackle insurance differently, we want you to draw on your expertise in property claims while helping us to continue to innovate on behalf of Kin’s customers and our stakeholders. As a Claims Adjuster, you will guide customers through the claims process with empathy and clarity, helping them navigate property damage situations with confidence. You will investigate and manage claims from a variety of perils efficiently and thoroughly to ensure timely, fair resolutions. Your responsibilities

  • Examining and appropriately interpreting insureds’ policies, forms in force, and other records to determine coverage and extent of company’s liability
  • Keeping active communication with customers throughout the Claims process
  • Drafting, approving, and adjusting estimates of damage and loss amounts
  • Using varying methods of investigation, including taking recorded statements, consulting with police, inspecting property damage, and reviewing documentation
  • Partner with field appraisers to manage home estimates/repairs
  • Estimating cost of repair, replacement, or compensation
  • Writing clear, concise diary notes in addition to setting field assignments, saving contacts, and issuing payments
  • Appropriately applying knowledge of multiple state statutes, including the insurance code of ethics, rules, regulations, and guidelines

Success in this role In your first 6–12 months at Kin, success is less about checking boxes and more about the impact you create. You’ll use your skills and judgment to take ownership of meaningful work, improve how we operate, and help move Kin’s mission forward. Along the way, you’ll deliver outcomes that make a real difference for both Kinfolk and the auto owners we serve.

  • Independently managing a full caseload of property claims from first notice of loss through resolution, consistently meeting or exceeding timeliness and quality expectations
  • Customers feel informed and supported throughout the process, as reflected in strong customer satisfaction and minimal escalations
  • Demonstrating a strong command of state-specific regulations and compliance requirements, consistently handling claims in accordance with applicable laws and ethical standards
  • Your files are well-documented and reflect sound coverage decisions

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of first-party residential property claims adjusting working directly for an insurance carrier
  • An active, valid Adjusters License in your current state of residence

  • Capability to work through daily & catastrophe claims in high-risk states
  • Experience with vendor management and negotiations
  • Comfortable utilizing various claims systems (i.e. Xactimate, Symbility, EagleView)
  • Bilingual capability is a plus (Spanish-speaking)

Requirements

  • Ability to work mandatory overtime as needed in the event of high claim volume due to a catastrophic event

Benefits

  • 401(k) with company match up to 4% of eligible earnings
  • Multiple medical plan options, plus dental and vision coverage
  • Company-funded HSA contributions (based on medical plan selection)
  • Company-paid life insurance and short-term disability
  • Employee referral bonuses

  • Access to mental health support and confidential counseling resources
  • Flexible PTO for exempt employees (most employees take 15–20 days per year), plus 8 company-observed holidays
  • Paid parental leave, including up to 14 weeks at 100% pay for birthing parents and 8 weeks at 100% pay for non-birthing parents
