Job Overview We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Benefits Verification Specialist to join our substance abuse/mental health insurance billing team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for verifying patient insurance benefits, ensuring accurate coverage information, and facilitating smooth billing processes. Duties

  • Verify patient insurance coverage by contacting insurance providers
  • Confirm eligibility, benefits, copayments, deductibles, and authorization requirements for various healthcare services
  • Collaborate with other staff to ensure all necessary information is correct and accurate.
  • Maintain detailed records of verification activities in compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Assist in resolving insurance-related issues by communicating effectively with insurance companies and treatment centers
  • Support billing and coding processes by providing accurate insurance information related to CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems
  • Stay updated on changes in managed care policies, insurance plans, and healthcare regulations to ensure compliance

Requirements

  • Entry level position
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security
  • Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with insurance providers, healthcare staff
  • Office experience in a fast-paced environment with proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Knowledge of substance abuse/mental health billing is helpful but not required.
