Sr Engineer Automation is responsible for convincing the organization of proper architecture and best practices. Will introduce new technologies and provide assistance to application development teams DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Convinces organization of proper architecture and best practices Creates new automated build infrastructure, configuration, and deployment processes Determines best course of action related to creating the proper architecture and software installations, upgrades and migrations while taking all factors into account such as performance, availability and security. Drives debugging and troubleshooting operations to assist application development teams Introduces multiple technologies into an organization, using J2EE application containers Takes on a variety of tasks, such as application development, technical troubleshooting, and writing scripts. Manage the progress of complicated projects with or without an actual Project Manager to assist. May provide oversight and direction on work performed by lower level team members in an effort to ensure tasks are being accomplished and ensure the project moving forward and meeting deadlines EDUCATION: B.S. Computer Information Systems or Engineering OTHER PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Certification in any scripting language, as well as any programming language 4-6 years of previous related programming experience or a combination of equivalent education and experience 2+ years of previous related AWS cloud & automation tool (Ansible, Puppet, Chef or Fabric) education and experience Strong troubleshooting skills Demonstrable interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills Perl, Java/J2EE, Unix (Solaris/Linux) Shell Scripting in C (csh), Korn (ksh), and/or Bourne shells (sh) Experience with different web container/application servers (one or more of the following: Apache, Tomcat, JBoss, and WebLogic) Experience configuring and optimizing a J2EE application server (preferably WebLogic and JBoss) Familiarity with Unix (Solaris/Linux) operating systems, tools, and utilities Familiarity with Jenkins build tool, Gitlab source code repository Familiarity with migration of services and server to the cloud and containers Good Oracle internal insight with Oracle Wallet, Encryption, DataPump, etc. Combinations of the following programming languages and technologies: C/C++, PL/SQL, Groovy/Grails, Oracle Pro*C/Forms, Java, JavaScript, Python, CVS, ANT, FTP, SSH, SSL, PGP System Automation Tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or Fabric) Containerization and Cloud (Docker, Kubernetes, Amazon Web Services (AWS)) Service Registries (Consul, Zookeeper, etc) Working Conditions/Physical Requirements: 24x7 oncall pager rotation week, every 7th week Normal Office Working Conditions This job description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, responsibilities and qualifications of the job.
