Peer Tutor in State College
About Tierney Education LLC Tierney Education LLC is dedicated to enhancing student learning and academic success. We pair motivated tutors with students who need support, creating meaningful one-on-one and small group learning experiences. Role Overview We're looking for dedicated and enthusiastic peer tutors for the upcoming semester. As a tutor, you'll play a hands-on role in helping students build confidence and achieve their academic goals. We have immediate needs for tutors in economics, business, and engineering.
Responsibilities
- Meet one-on-one or in small groups with students for tutoring sessions
- Communicate directly with students to schedule meeting times and locations
- Submit monthly hours at the end of each month
- Submit session reflections within 24 hours of each session using our provided form
- Maintain frequent communication with the Tierney Education team regarding student progress
Qualifications
- Achieved an A or A− in the course(s) you wish to tutor
- Minimum 5 hours of availability per week
- Strong communication skills and the ability to connect with students
- Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner
- Responsive communication with Tierney Education administration via text and/or email
Preferred
- Prior experience in tutoring or peer mentoring
- Knowledge of research-based teaching methodologies
- Ability to conduct sessions virtually
Compensation & Training
- Starting at $30 per hour-long tutoring session
- All tutors complete a paid, 90-minute learning science training
- Comprehensive tutoring handbook provided
