Remote SQL Developer (Contract) We are looking for an experienced SQL Developer to support our DevOps team during a major migration of our payment processing platform to Azure SQL Managed Instance. This role focuses heavily on SQL performance, stored procedures, and database migration tasks.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and optimise SQL Server databases (10–20GB; operational, reporting, security).
- Update, test, and troubleshoot stored procedures and SQL logic.
- Support the migration to Azure SQL Managed Instance, including restores, logins, connection updates, and validation.
- Assist with performance tuning, indexing, and query optimisation.
- Participate in testing workflows, including critical transaction validation.
- Work with DevOps to ensure secure, reliable, and monitored SQL operations.
Requirements
- 5+ years SQL Server development experience.
- Strong T-SQL, performance tuning, indexing, and query optimisation skills.
- Hands-on experience with Azure SQL (Managed Instance preferred).
- Experience with high-uptime, transactional systems.
- Strong debugging, testing, and documentation skills.
Nice to Have
- Exposure to .NET applications.
- Experience with automation tools (Pulumi/Terraform).
- Understanding of Azure networking (Private Endpoints, VPN).
