A Day in the Life

Our Environmental Consulting and Engineering (EC&E) group is looking for an experienced Principal Scientist who can lead, sell, do, and build the O&G and Energy Market Sector in the Pittsburgh Region.

The compensation range for this role is $160,000-$200,000, in addition to an annual bonus commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location. 

To thrive in this role, you’ll be comfortable taking ownership of the following responsibilities:

Business Development & Program Management

  • Lead in the development of a strategic business plan for Appalachian Basin region in O&G, Energy, Industrial, and Tech/Data Center Sectors.

  • Build upon and expand clients, resources, and sub-sector markets of our existing business in the Appalachian Basin region.

  • Manage and grow one or more key client Account Management programs.

  • Develop and maintain a broad range of client relationships throughout the private market sector and geography.

  • Identify and pursue business development opportunities consistent with the vision and strategic plan.

  • Drive revenue growth opportunities for the entire range of our services and champion an integrated services approach.

  • Work with the business leaders to meet net revenue, gross margin, and operating income targets of our business lines.

  • Support growth of a team of high performers. This will include supporting recruitment and retention of subject matter experts, project managers, and account managers within the Environmental Services practice.

  • Be a Project Director for a portfolio of projects with variety of service offerings, delivering budgeted financial performance, and excellent client service. 

Strategic Thinking     

  • Identify trends and develop a long-term view of the O&G and Energy Market Sector within a key client account framework.

  • Develop and implement “win” strategies, including client contact, opportunity identification and positioning, proposal preparation, and preparation of and participation in client interviews.

  • Innovate and enhance our capabilities, geographic footprint, and integrated approach.

  • Make collaborative decisions using critical thinking, good business sense, and organizational values involving varying levels of risk and ambiguity.

Your Expertise and Skills 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Geology, or relevant science discipline.

  • 15+ years of relevant experience in the Oil and Gas industry, particularly with up- and midstream companies.

  • 10+ years of multi-disciplinary project management experience.

  • Experience in managing multiple clients and projects, as well as drafting proposals, quotes, and bids.

  • The project work will be multi-disciplinary in nature, but experience in upstream, transmission pipeline, data center development, and permitting and compliance programs is preferred.
