Safe Travel Officer | Integrated Transport Services

Remote, USA Full-time Posted 2026-06-24

Salary £36,363 - £40,777 per annum | Permanent, Full Time 37 hours per week

Location – Home Based with Countywide Travel

Our Integrated Transport team is recruiting to the role of Safer Travel Officer. This is a rewarding, varied role that involves developing the personalised transport plans which help children, young people and adults with complex needs get where they need to be each day, whether they are children with special educational needs going to school or older people going to join their friends at a day centre.

Responsibilities include carrying out person specific risk assessments and developing passenger safety plans, carrying out home visits and attending multi-agency meetings with partners including education and health to ensure the safe travel of people with complex needs in Lancashire.

Previous experience in transport is not required; if you have experience in supporting people with special educational needs, physical disabilities, mobility, medical or home access issues, this could be the role for you.

If you have any queries about the role, please contact Mike Grayson, Compliance Manager for an informal chat, at [email protected].

Applications must include a full CV and a supporting statement which describes how you meet the selection criteria for the role. Simply adding a CV is not sufficient. The panel may be unable to shortlist you for interview without this evidence.

The post you are applying for is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2013). If successful you will be required to apply to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) for a 'disclosure'. Further information can be found on the 'Our Recruitment Process' tab.

You will be required to provide a car for use in connection with the duties of this post and must be insured for business use. However, we may consider you if you cannot drive because of a disability.

In return Lancashire County Council offers a range of benefits, which can be found on LCC Vacancies website.

We reserve the right to close down a vacancy early, before the closing date, if we receive sufficient applications.
