Seasonal Tax Preparer (1099 Independent Contractor – Remote) SLP Tax Service is seeking experienced Tax Preparers with an active PTIN and at least one prior tax season of professional experience to work as seasonal, remote independent contractors. This position is commission-based and compensated through a percentage split of total revenue earned. This is not an hourly, salaried, or per-return position. Contractors are expected to have an existing client base and be interested in growing their tax business while operating under an established firm infrastructure. Based on business needs, SLP Tax Service may assign additional clients, though client assignments are not guaranteed. Position Details • Seasonal / Remote • 1099 Independent Contractor role • Operate under SLP Tax Service’s EFIN, tax software, and firm pricing • Ability to bring and service independently sourced clients • Access to firm systems, compliance requirements, and operational support Responsibilities • Prepare individual federal and state tax returns for clients • Follow firm due-diligence, documentation, and compliance standards • Submit returns using firm-approved tax software • Maintain professional client communication and turnaround times • Operate independently while adhering to firm guidelines and procedures Required Qualifications • Active PTIN (required) • At least one prior tax season of professional tax preparation experience • Existing client base (small or growing) • Willingness to follow firm pricing, workflow, and compliance procedures • Professional, self-directed work style Compensation • Commission-based • Revenue split based on total revenue earned • No hourly wages, salary, or guaranteed income • Compensation structure discussed during onboarding Not a Fit If You Are • Seeking hourly or salaried employment • Expecting managerial authority or firm control • Looking to override firm pricing or procedures • A CPA seeking a firm-level or supervisory role Additional Information • This is a 1099 independent contractor position • Contractors are responsible for their own taxes and expenses • Seasonal opportunity with potential for future engagement How to Apply Qualified candidates must complete the PTIN Tax Preparer Screening Form.
