SWE Intern (Accounts)

PEAK6 is a leading investment firm that leverages technology to enhance trading solutions. They are seeking a Software Engineering Intern to join their development team, focusing on building high-volume and high-availability trade clearing services.

Responsibilities

  • Working with a variety of languages/frameworks, such as Java, Go, Python and technologies such as RDBMS, Kubernetes, and Docker, Google Cloud Platform
  • Designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining and improving software
  • Building resilient, self-scaling, self-healing services that allow you to sleep through the night
  • Writing high-quality, well-tested code. Maintaining high code-quality standards across your team via code reviews
  • Attending training and expand domain knowledge on Accounts creation and Maintenance
  • Encouraging innovation by questioning business processes throughout the company

Skills

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related STEM field
  • Senior standing, May 2027 graduate
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
  • Experience of software development skills in a modern object-oriented programming language ideally Java / Go, Python considered a plus, an RDBMS or SQL, and the ability to learn new languages and technologies quickly
  • Interest in financial technology and payment systems
  • Detail-oriented approach suitable for working with financial data
  • Collaborative mindset and eagerness to learn in a fast-paced environment
  • Have a real passion for software engineering, as demonstrated by previous internships, work experience, projects, or publications
  • Either previous knowledge in financial markets or a strong interest in learning
